Decking
at Bell Center Pool to Undergo Repairs
The soils at the
Bell Recreation Center pool facilities are currently undergoing testing
to determine why a section of the cool decking around the pool recently
began to settle and become uneven. Since the Bell Center project is
still under warranty, the project’s original contractor has visited the
Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc., site to determine the cause of the
settling.
According to RCSC Director of Centers
Operations Jim Wellman, a section of the cool decking between the
competitive pool and the walking pool settled between the expansion
joints. As a result, the decking became uneven. Temporary fencing was
erected around the site for safety reasons.
The contractor had to open up the
decking in order to determine the cause of the settling
and is currently waiting for results from
moisture tests performed on the soils. Once the testing results are
received the contractor will be able to determine the problem, repair it
and reinstall the cool decking.
The Bell pool and spa facilities will
remain open throughout the repairs.
