Jean Buck, a member of the Recreation Centers of Sun City,
Inc., Board of Directors, has resigned her post on the Board, effective
January 15, for health reasons. Director Buck was appointed to the Board
in March 2005 to fill a vacancy. She was re-elected to the Board in
December 2005 for a three-year term.
While a member of the Board, Buck served as chair of the
Membership Communication committee, co-chair of the Club Organization
committee and as a member of the Golf committee. She also served as the
Board liaison to RCSC’s Five Star Service program for employees.
Buck noted that she appreciated her time on the Board
and the individuals she worked with. “I found working on the Board very
satisfying,” she said. “I especially enjoyed working with all the
wonderful people in Sun City.”
Buck said she hoped Sun Citians would continue to
maintain an interest in issues in the community. She cited efforts to
oppose state Senate Bill 1208 and the widening of Peoria Ave. as
evidence of Sun City’s ability to effect change and protect the
interests of the community. “Sun City is a tremendous political force
when we all come together,” she said. “I hope everyone will continue to
be aware and keep working.”
RCSC Board President Denny Nichols expressed his
appreciation for Buck’s service and wished her well on behalf of the
RCSC Board. “Jean will be missed by the Board,” he said. “We appreciate
her service on the Member Communications, Club Organization and Golf
committees, as well as her leadership with the Five Star Service
initiative here at RCSC.”
Buck’s departure leaves a vacancy on the RCSC Board. The
Board will appoint a new Director and is currently accepting resumes
from qualified candidates. Candidates must be at least 55 years of age
and a Sun City property owner in good standing. Candidates must also
reside in Sun City and be available at least 10 months of the year.
Interested individuals may submit resumes to the Board Office at
Lakeview Recreation Center, located at 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd. in Sun
City.
