RCSC Board Asks Cardholders to Obey
Laws Regarding
Outside Food and Beverages
Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc.’s Board of
Directors has asked the RCSC personnel team to begin strictly enforcing
the state and county laws prohibiting cardholders from bringing outside
food and beverages (for pot lucks and other events) into RCSC facilities
that are adjacent to food and beverage establishments, which encompasses
both Bell and Lakeview Lanes and all golf courses. Bringing outside food
and alcoholic beverages to areas with food service facilities is
prohibited due to health permits and liquor licenses.
“I understand the value of these social
events in Sun City and that cardholders
enjoy pot lucks, holiday parties and the like, and they are still able
to host those events, just not necessarily where they used to,” said
RCSC General Manager Jan Ek. “I am sure that the cardholders will
understand that we must completely and fully comply with the law.”
Per Regulation 3-201.11 in Section 2 of Chapter VIII of the Maricopa
County Health Code, “Food prepared in a private home may not be used or
offered for human consumption in a food establishment.” Bringing outside
liquor into licensed premises is also prohibited
per Arizona Revised Statute 4-244(39).
RCSC cardholders may continue to have parties and
pot lucks in RCSC facilities such as social halls and auditoriums at the
recreation centers, Talisman Hall, the new multi-purpose building at
Bell and team rooms at the bowling centers; cardholders may only bring
outside food and beverages to these private areas, which are away from
any food and beverage establishment. Cardholders may not have outside
food or beverages within any of the food and beverage establishments, on
the patios at the golf courses or the restaurants, on the concourses in
the bowling centers or in the meeting room next to the former Grill &
Deli at Riverview golf course. Since the liquor licenses service the
entire golf course operation as well, outside liquor or alcohol of any
kind is by law not permissible on the golf courses. These laws apply to
individuals as well as groups and events; the laws also prohibit any
individual from consuming any outside food and beverage within the areas
previously mentioned.
