The Board of
Directors of the Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc., continues to make
efforts to responsibly manage the corporation’s finances, especially in
light of the cost to repair the damage incurred at Sundial Recreation
Center due to a roof collapse.
The Board recently agreed to put
several planned capital projects on hold due to the uncertainty of the
cost of the Sundial reconstruction. The total of these budgeted projects
is in excess of $1.2 million, according to Board officials. Some of
these projects include the planned aeration of Viewpoint Lake, upgrades
to the parking lots at Sundial Center, replacement of the pool deck at
Oakmont Center, renovation of the bunkers at Lakes West Golf Course and
the pavement of the maintenance area for the Willowbrook and Willowcreek
golf courses.
In an effort to keep fees and
assessments reasonable and at the lowest levels possible, the RCSC Board
also continues to look for ways to increase operational
efficiencies. For example, the Board has been looking at ways to
minimize the effects of significant increases in utility costs.
“The Board takes its fiduciary
responsibility very seriously,” said RCSC Board President Denny Nichols.
“We are committed to taking whatever steps are necessary to keep the
corporation in a good financial position, even with the Sundial
reconstruction and rising operational costs.”
