The Recreation Centers of Sun City,
Inc. has made progress in its efforts to obtain a building permit from
Maricopa County for the Fairway Recreation Center renovation project.
RCSC recently resubmitted building plans required for the permit to
Maricopa County after making corrections and receiving a variance from
the County.
RCSC had originally submitted plans
for the building permit to Maricopa County in November, and the plans
were returned with a list of required corrections, as well as a variance
that had to be granted. RCSC applied to the county for the variance,
which was granted on Wednesday, April 16. RCSC then resubmitted the
project plans to the county on Monday, April 21.
“We have hopefully jumped another
hurdle in this permitting process,” said RCSC Assistant General Manager
Jim Wellman. “It is not uncommon to receive several comments from the
County on a project of this size, but these have now been taken care of
and it is our hope that our permit will soon be approved and we can move
forward with the project.”
Fairway is the second oldest
recreation center in Sun City. The building is slated for complete
renovation.
