Audubon International

Quail Run Golf Course has achieved designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS), the educational division of Audubon International. Quail Run is the seventh course in Arizona and the 616th in the world to receive the honor. Quail Run has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program through efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property. To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas. These categories include: Environmental Planning, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

Quail Run is excited to become the seventh golf course as well as the first nine-hole golf course in Arizona named as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary golf course. By achieving this honor we are helping change the perception that golf courses are a detriment to the environment and showing our dedication to protecting the environment for us as well as our future generations.

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, endorsed by the United States Golf Association, provides information and guidance to help golf courses preserve and enhance wildlife habitat, and protect natural resources. Golf courses from the United States, Australia, Canada, Central America, Europe and Southeast Asia have also achieved certification in the program. Audubon-certified courses in Arizona also include: Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Hassayampa Golf Club in Prescott, Pinewood Country Club in Munds Park, Torreon Golf Club in Show Low, Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, and Troon Golf & Country Club in Scottsdale.

Audubon International is a not-for-profit environmental education organization dedicated to educating, assisting and inspiring millions of people from all walks of life to protect and sustain the land, water, wildlife and natural resources around them.
