RCSC receives stipend for Get Golf Ready program

The Get Golf Ready in 5 Days program has been a swinging success for Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc. So much so that the group that certifies facilities to run the five-day program, Work Golf Foundation, awarded RCSC with a $250 stipend to continue to promote the curriculum.

Work Golf Foundation has certified more than 1,150 golf facilities to serve as host sites for Get Golf Ready, and stipends have been awarded to only 500 of those facilities. To receive a stipend, facilities must agree to follow the curriculum as spelled out in the Get Golf Ready brochure, post event notices online for easy public access and teach their participants.

RCSC launched the Get Golf Ready program last April with two Sun City golf professionals teaching the courses. Six additional sessions have been held since November. RCSC’s Get Golf Ready classes have taught 58 individuals. New classes are scheduled each month through May.

Each Get Golf Ready class is limited to eight participants and is comprised of five sessions that teach the basics of golf. Classes end with a round of golf where participants put their newly learned skills into action on the course.

Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc. owns and operates eight golf courses (five regulation, three executive) in Sun City. Non-Sun City residents may book tee times at RCSC courses by logging onto www.golfnow.com. RCSC also offers annual golf memberships to those 45 years and older.

RCSC’s Lakes West Golf Course recently received a complete renovation and redesign of its bunkers. For more information on RCSC golf, contact Golf Administrative Coordinator Sue Presta at 623-876-8419 or spresta@sunaz.com.
