Arizona American Water Company's Town Hall Meeting
We'd like to thank Sun City residents who took time on an extremely hot, humid day to attend Arizona American Water Company's Town Hall meeting(s) last Friday. Even though many of our community are absent at this time of year, a great number turned out to show their concern and interest! We showed ourselves to be mature adults who are polite, can listen and ask intelligent questions. So proud of you all!
On the issue of consolidation of the water and wastewater districts, the meeting provided some insight on what lies ahead for Sun City with regard to its aging wells. Repairs and well replacements are definitely in our future.
As mentioned in the meetings, we have a map of the Sun City Water District (which includes Youngtown, a small portion of Peoria and a small unincorporated section) at the Board Office at Lakeview Recreation Center if you are interested in seeing where the 20 wells, owned and operated by Arizona American Water Company (“AZ American”), are located within Sun City. AZ American has been extremely open with us in discussing the system, the problems we face and the steps they take as they decide whether to repair or replace wells.
We will continue to update Sun City residents on this rate and consolidation case - there will be an increase in our rates (that is a given we must accept) however, we have no idea what the outcome will be at this time and the decision won’t be made until later this fall.
